Master of the Trinity House Corporation.

With the threat of the Spanish Armada imminent in 1588, Salmon wrote to Lord Burghley that 30 merchant ships would be fit to join the Lord Admiral within four days. The role of Trinity House in the supply of these ships is unclear. Salmon himself took an active role; Lord Henry Seymour commanded the inshore squadron off the Flemish coast and watched the Duke of Parma's army waiting to embark onto the ships of the Armada - he instructed Salmon to proceed with his galley to guard the mouth of the river Thames.
