Ascension Day, fourty days after Easter, commemorates the ascension of Jesus into heaven (Acts 1:6-11) following His crucifixion and resurrection. It is one of the six holy days of obligation wherein mass must be attended.

During the forty day period after His resurrection, He preached and intermingled with his apostles and disciples.

The feast day has been observed by the catholic and Anglican churches since the 4thcentury.
