History

The present Parish Church built between 1250 and 1270 may stand on a Saxon site.

Child Okeford Post Office
High St Child Okeford, Blandford Forum, Dorset DT11 8EH     tel: 01258 860281

The River Stour harbours some rare aquatic plants and one of these, the Loddon pondweed (Potamogeton nodosus) inhabits gravelly reaches of the river between Child Okeford and Blandford Forum.

WILLIAM KETHE   served as Rector at Child Okeford from 1561 until 1608, in the reigns of Elizabeth I and James I. He is best remembered for his hymn "All people that on earth do dwell". Whilst exiled in Switzerland, he worked on the translation of the Geneva or Breeche's Bible of which the Parish Church is fortunate to possess a copy.
