The swuklink.com website has grown to some 2,000 pages and a similar number of photographs and images on the West Country (from Wiltshire in the north and Hampshire in the east to the Isles of Scilly), with background information such as our time-line with over 6,000 entries which has proved one of our most popular pages. One of the chief aims of the site is to provide fully linked coverage of this area across parish and county boundaries while still providing a site of interest to local comunities. In order to keep the site running and develop it further we need to find commercial sponsorship and are looking for someone to market the site from February of this year.
In 2004, despite a major failure of the server in February which set us back by some three months, we still had over 300,000 hits on the site and expect to exceed a million in 2005. The candidate would be responsible for securing sponsorship for the site by selling the scrolling banners on the site (of which there are six) to corporate sponsors on twelve month contracts to raise �120,000.
The position is on a self-employed basis and renumeration is by commission on sales on a sliding scale of up to eleven per cent on achieving the sales target within the period March 2005 to August 2005 inclusive.
The position is permanent and financial targets for subsequent years will be mutually agreed taking into consideration inflation, improvements in the quality of the site and the number of hits it recieves.
We envisage the securing of six sponsors who would share one of the six thirty second slots available, although any combination is available such as a double slot running for a minute or any two individual slots.
The successfull candidate, having fullfilled the target sales, will have the opportunity to develop any other commercial opportunities made available by the site (excluding sales of images).
All candidates will be considered solely on merit but the position, by its nature, lends itself well to someone with sales experience who is unable to work full time or disabled. We would prefer the candidate to live within the area covered by the web site or in neighbouring counties (Berkshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, or West Sussex).
The successful candidate will be working from home on a self-employed and commission only basis and will have to possess regular internet access via a computer as most of the communication with us will be electronic. Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United Kingdom will be required.
Self-motivated, you will be required to work with us to develop a strategy to raise a minimum of �120,000 of sponsorship from Commercial Advertisers by selling the banners at the top of all our pages to them.
Renumeration is by way of commission on your sales for which payment has been recieved in full. The Commission is on a sliding scale over a six month period starting March 1st and ending August 31st of each year, the sliding scale varies from 8% on the first sale rising to 11% (the difference paid retrospectively on ALL previous sales) if all six slots are sold within the six month period making a total commission payable of £ 13,200;-
We recognise that the position involves a disproportionate amount of time and effort at start-up and candidates should consider the position over a timespan of two or more years to maximise the benefits gained from the work done in the first year in terms of preparation, repeat sales, etc.
Individuals registered for VAT will be required to submit a VAT invoice for all commission payments.
