Michealmas, September 29th - the feast day of the archangel Micheal - is one of the extant quarter days which survive from the agricultural calendar.

In medieval England it was the start of the fiscal year, as witnessed by the earliest surviving pipe roll which dates from Michealmas 1129 during the reign of king Henry I.
