Stalbridge lies in the Vale of Blackmore and its Parish Church, on its hill is a landmark for many miles around.
The village posseses a 15th century market cross. It is 10 metres (30 feet) high and on the shaft is a figure of Christ with St John and the Madonna on the stones above. On the base are the remains of carvings of the Crucifixion and the Resurrection.
From a height above it are magnificent views, with Alfred's Tower 800 feet high on Kingsettle Hill.

There was a Roman settlement near Stalbridge.
The parish church is partly of the 15th century with a 19th century tower.

The Elizabethan manor house which was the heart of Stalbridge Park on the north-western end of the village is no longer here
but the walls of the estate extend for several miles along the roads to the north and east of the village. It was at the house,
however, that Robert Boyle performed his experiments in chemistry.
