LINCOLN
The bishopric of Lincoln dates from the 4th century AD.

OLD SARUM
The see of Sherborne was removed to Old Sarum in 1075.

SALISBURY

An Order in Council in 1925 provided for a Bishop Suffragan of Sherborne - reviving the office after a gap of 850 years.

SHERBORNE
The ancient capital of Wessex, King Ine appointed his kinsman Aldhelm here as the first bishop of the West Saxons in AD705. The see was removed to Old Sarum in 1075.
